Girls of Excellence Honored Across Schools

BASSETERRE: Twenty-three exceptional young women have been recognized through the 2025 Girls of Excellence Awards, honoring their outstanding contributions to their schools and communities.

The awards were presented during school assemblies last week in observance of International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated annually on October 11th. The initiative, conducted jointly by the Department of Gender Affairs – St. Kitts and the Department of Community Development and Social Services under the Ministry of Social Development & Gender Affairs, aims to celebrate girls who exemplify positive values and leadership.

Recipients span primary schools across St. Kitts, representing institutions from Dieppe Bay to Sandy Point. Among the honorees are Jelicia Jules from Dieppe Bay Primary, Jessie King from Ross Preparatory, and A’mekia Herbert from Violet Petty Primary.

Other awardees include Dujoniese Phillip (Bronte Welsh Primary), Adonia Anthony (Saddlers Primary), Zendaya Belle (Cayon Primary), Shaykeira Stapleton (Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School), Leila Grant (SKI Academy), Anika Tuckett (Deane Glasford Primary), and Cordeecia Ham (Edgar T Morris Primary).

Additional recipients are Joida Johnson (George Moody Stuart School), Jahnesis Herbert (Halliday Smith Primary), Lael Mark (Immaculate Conception Catholic School), Havilah Williams (Dr. William Connor Primary), Miracle Richardson (Joshua O. Williams Primary), Soraya Thomas (Tyrell Williams Primary), Zamiya Prentice (Maurice Hillier Memorial School), Giana Collins (Seventh Day Adventist Primary), Khoranhlai Wyatt (Newtown Ground Primary), Thrizenya Leader (St. Pauls Primary), Sapphire Prentice (Tucker Clarke Primary), Egypt Harvey (Beach Allen Primary), and Starryah Gumbs (Sandy Point Primary).

The Ministry congratulated all recipients, encouraging them to “keep shining bright.”
