BASSETERRE: Genesis Tyson of Tucker Clarke Primary School captured first place at the Annual Primary School Rotary Spelling Bee held Thursday evening at the ECCB Auditorium.
The talented student demonstrated exceptional skill and composure throughout multiple challenging rounds, correctly spelling complex words to outlast competitors from eighteen other primary schools across St. Kitts.
Genesis’s victory is credited in part to the dedicated coaching of Mrs. Anita Dolphin, whose rigorous preparation helped ensure her student was competition-ready. Tucker Clarke Primary School celebrated the achievement on social media, praising both Genesis and her coach for their hard work and commitment.
“Waddawow! Talk about a victory!” the school announced, expressing immense pride in Genesis’s accomplishment.
The competition featured nineteen primary schools, each sending their top spellers to compete in the prestigious annual event. Edgar T. Morris Primary School secured second place, while Seventh Day Adventist Primary School claimed third position in the closely contested competition.
The Rotary Club, which organizes the annual spelling bee, expressed satisfaction with another successful event promoting literacy and academic excellence among young students. The competition continues to be a highlight of the primary school calendar, encouraging students to develop strong language skills while building confidence in public performance.
The audience at the ECCB Auditorium erupted in applause as Genesis correctly spelled the final winning word, marking a memorable conclusion to an evening celebrating academic achievement across St. Kitts’s primary schools.
