BASSETERRE: The Ministry of Education has moved swiftly to debunk false reports circulating about changes to public school dress codes, specifically addressing claims that students would now be allowed to wear jewelry.
In an official notice released Sunday, the Ministry labeled the information as “fake news” and emphasized that no modifications have been made to existing dress code policies.
“Parents and students are reminded that the school’s official dress code remains in effect and must be adhered to at all times,” the Ministry stated. “Jewelry is not permitted as outlined in the existing policy.”
The clarification comes amid apparent confusion among parents and students regarding school uniform regulations. The Ministry did not specify the source of the misinformation or how widely it had spread across the federation.
Officials stressed the importance of cooperation from families in maintaining established school standards. The statement concluded with appreciation for “continued support in upholding school policy.”
The dress code for public schools in St. Kitts and Nevis has remained consistent, requiring students to wear approved uniforms without unauthorized accessories or jewelry. No timeline was provided for any potential future policy reviews.
