Basseterre — Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Sports and the Creative Economy Samuel Duggin has presented his ministry’s 90-day report, highlighting tangible progress across several key sectors.

Speaking earlier today, Minister Duggin pointed to the launch of the new Reap agricultural insurance programme as a major step forward. The scheme protects farmers and fishers from losses caused by storms, drought or bad seasons, providing greater security for those working in the sector.

In the creative economy, construction has officially begun on the new Creative Arts Centre. Land has been cleared and excavation work is underway, marking the start of a facility that will offer structured support and long-term opportunities for artists and creatives.

On the trade front, a new direct charter flight link between Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport and Abuja, Nigeria, has already produced results. Local company Mother Becky’s secured its largest single export order to date, shipping over 3,000 units to the Nigerian market.

In sports, the minister reported the reactivation of Basketball City, upgrades at the Kim Collins Stadium, and the completion of a new football facility in Conaree. He also noted the successful return of school and national competitions, describing it as a sign of renewed energy in the sector.

Looking ahead, plans are advancing for the 100th anniversary celebrations of Warner Park.

Minister Duggin said the quarterly update demonstrates the government’s focus on delivery and accountability, with clear results already visible in agriculture, sports and the creative industries.
